Cincinnati, Ohio – Dimetrica Winfred is a mother of 2. She is determined to transmit her strong values to her and everyone else’s children. In the wake of Harvey Weinstein’s scandal, she has created a new talking teddy bear. The little guy isn’t scared to be honest.
“I never really thought about it before I had my first child”, Dimetrica says. “But the whole concept of letting a child pressing a bear’s hand or button when they want without asking for permission is wrong. It doesn’t teach our children about respectful sexual behaviours. I do not like the idea of the bear saying what the child want to hear every time either. This reminds me too much of women who are expected to be submissive to men. I want to change the way people think and challenge society’s norms”.
In order to achieve that, Demetrica created Rodrigo the bear. A toy that expects all children to respect its body at all time.
“When you press one of its patches, it puts you back in your place”, Demetrica explains. “It does say things like “who told you you could press my button, you perv?”. “How would you like it if I touched your sister like that?”. “And who do you think you are? Harvey Weinstein?”. It might seem strong. But I want toddlers to understand that being 2 years old and cute doesn’t give you the right to touch anyone without their permission”
